Technology System Explained

The ASCs concentrates the power of the sun onto a receiver, converting the solar energy into heat. This heat is stored in long duration molten salt; and used to produce electricity through a steam turbine, or to generate heat for industrial processes.

Solves long-duration power capture, storage and supply, with up to 24hr continuous operations, for dispatchable carbon free energy at low cost:

1. Addresses all legacy CSP shortcomings 

  • Concentrates sun’s thermal energy like never before with significantly higher efficiency rates for solar to thermal (95%);

  • Tracks sun on two axes, with a fixed focal point, at close range;

  • Reaches temperatures of 1,200 C;

2. Resolves intermittency issues and battery cost & capacity limits of PV and wind.

  • Effective and cost-efficient thermal capture and storage combination;

  • Thermal energy storage is cheaper and greener than existing battery storage solutions;

  • Allows for constant baseload, dispatchable supply.

 

3. Scalable and modular system design.

Validated, deployable and patented

Commercial scale prototype constructed at Masdar Institute, Abu Dhabi. Independently tested and validated by reputable scientific institutes - including most recently by TUV Nord in 2023, verifying & exceeding performance targets.

 

Technology is globally patented (granted and pending) across USPO, GCC, WIPO and EPO, along with national filings across 53 countries.
